I bought a beautiful robin’s egg- blue picture frame at the store today. I immediately fell in love with it. I had never heard of the brand “Miss Clickety Clack” till then, so I looked it up. I was so pleased at what wonderful things I found. These brooches are adorable and the picture frames and clips, below, are great too.
Look, that’s my picture frame on the left. Isn’t is great! And the plate on the right simply must be my next buy!
I love the movie “Chocolat”. Every time I watch it, it makes me want to run to the kitchen and bake up some decadent chocolate treat. I love the setting. The chocolate shop is divine, the costumes are fantastic, and the small town with cobblestone streets is so fabulously European. For some reason this film makes me want to go to Paris. My favorite parts of the movie are the baking shots. They really did do a great job making the food and chocolate look fantastic. So if you haven’t seen the movie, go watch it, but beware that watching it to many times may make you fat. Anyway, here is my attempt at making you want to bake up good treats, like this movie will. I have found some beautiful pictures of Patisserie’s in Paris. I want to go there so badly!! (Such a “ME” place)
This would be me in Paris, but by the end of the week I would be twice that size!

The lantern is the new chandelier, and I am so excited about it! I love this trend because it is so universal. You can use indoor hanging lanterns with any decor. Modern to traditional, you name it, it will work. This is actually an historic trend brought back to life recently. You will find a lot of glass-globe lanterns in hictoric home across America, a lot of which used to be candle burning (before electricity) and have since been electrified. CotedeTexas just published a great post about hunting down antique French lanterns, which are beautiful (go check it out). Shades of Light (a national lighting catalog) is a great resource if you are looking to delve into this classic “trend”. Check out the pics at the bottom of this post to see a small sample of there collection.
Have you checked out the fabulous blog (and one of my favorites) Casapinka? This is an incredibly creative blog, one of the most creative in my opinion, with great content and creative project ideas. Go check it out. These stairs were one of the wonderfully creative projects featured, and I think they are so great. I love this wallpaper, and it makes such a great statement was you enter the house! Will some of you be as brave as her and try this in your house? I hope so. If you do, send me the pics. I would love to see the results. I would do it but I don’t have stairs. I will just have to count on you to do it.
There is one question I have asked myself over and over again since I became an interior designer. “What is wrong with being fancy?” I have clients, time and time again, return items that “didn’t work because it was too fancy”. This is very frustrating to me because I know how great it would look if they would only live with it for awhile. But somehow, somewhere along the way, the mass public has been convinced that 1:You have to be super rich to be fancy 2:You have to be stuck up to be fancy 3:You have to be fancy to be fancy (you have to be fancy all over to own fancy things) and 4:Everything has to be fancy to be fancy (your home has to be a historic Victorian with lace and gilded gold everything to buy fancy things for your home). Well I will stop my rant here and simply say that none of these fallacies are true, and now I am simply going to post wonder pictures of “fancy” things in “unfancy” places. Hope, for all you designers out there, you can sympathize, and for the mass public you can pick up some great design ideas for mixing it up and being a little fancy. Enjoy!

So basically my advice is 1: Mix it up! I truly think that 95% of us have (or should have) an eclectic design style, so go with that! If we all buy “Plain Jane” ,”design neutral”,”non-fancy” things you know what we would have “Plain-Jane x 3″! Let your creativity go, just because you have a farmhouse, doesn’t mean you have to decorate with “mo-cows” everywhere. Just because you have a modern, minimal home doesn’t mean you can’t have a frilly bit of fun in the corner. It makes things interesting. Ok, Ok, I am done…
P.S. This can goes both ways. If you are a “Miss Fancy Pants” please don’t Gold Leaf your entire residence. Haha!

I had to put two pictures of this disaster. What is with this hair? It looks like she hasn’t taken a bath in a month and hasn’t had a dye job is a year. Maybe she thinks she is pretty enough to not bathe, but she would be wrong! The dress was alright.
I know the 80′s is slowly making a come back but I didn’t know they were coming back all in one night. Just kidding, I actually like Lo’s dress here. It is one of the few of the night that actually fit.
Leighton was my personal favorite of the night. It is a throw back to the 80′s as well, but with a great modern, fresh appeal. It is nice to see something new on the carpet.
I really like this, another 80′s hit but I was digging it. Her hair is a little straw like though.
What is with the shoes? Come on, just enjoy your fame while it last and dress up from head to toe!

Ashley dress was great, but the hair is a little off. I know what she was going for, but didn’t quite make it. Just let me say though (before I get 100 hate comments about me dissing the girls from Twilight) I love Twilight. I am a huge fan, and I love all these actress.

Ruffles are everywhere, on everything! It seems everything is being inspired by a girly touch, and nothing is being left undone. It is all about the feminine details right now and I love it!! A tip for you trend followers, add embellishment to everything you can get your hands on. Whether it be ruffles, flowers, pleats, ribbon, sparkle…just add something! Can it be too much? I say, “What is TOO MUCH??”
