I remember sitting in Design History class and learning about Art Deco design. It was pretty cool. Then came the “Art Nouveau” lessons, and I fell in love! I am so an “Art Nouveau” girl. I remember loving the set of the 1995 movie Casper, before I even knew that the house was a quintessential “Art Nouveau” design. I love that the style is beloved once again by fashion and design trend setters everywhere. The style is all about following the lines of nature, having few straight lines, and being feminine.
Brocade Home is a great example of how the “Art Nouveau” style is being reinterpreted today.

The “Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2009 line” is fabulous, and very “Art Nouveau”. The shapes and details are all about nature, flowers, and femininity. I am so glad my favorite design style is back in style, and I hope it stays around awhile.
New at my etsy shop, the loveliest pink pillow you have ever laid eyes on! Check it out.
Charlotte Moss says, (via her lovely blog) “Hang your art ‘salon style’”! I like it, because this means I don’t have to hang everything level! Hallelujah!
I love a brave soul, who has the guts to paint such a bold color, so later I can enjoy looking at it in House Beautiful. This house tour, from the July, 2009 issue of House Beautiful is absolutely fabulous. The hot pink paint is divine. It just goes to show, there is no such thing as a paint color that is to bright. It is all in how you break up the color throughout the room. A tip, never decide the color is too bright, or that you don’t like it, until you refill the room with your art, furniture, and accessories. That can make all the difference. I know it may seem like a dreadful task to unload the room again, if it does turnout that you don’t like the paint, but it may very well save you from repainting a perfectly good room. I personally would rather not repaint!

Alexis Mabille’s Fall 2009 collection was, by far, my favorite! I loved the soft feminine details and I loved the fact that this is actually something I would wear (which is what fashion is actually about, in the long run). The dress above I loved because of the lace. It reminded me of french cameos, in a way.
It is so refreshing, to me, to see aqua blue with something other than brown! I am so sick of brown and aqua, it makes me sick to see it nowadays. I am ready for something new, which is why I love that Alexis put aqua with black! This dress looks so fresh and flowing. It is my favorite! Hooray for aqua and black!
Of course, pink is still my favorite color! This dress is so simple, yet so perfect. Cream and pink can have my heart forever!
What an amazing collection from Giorgio Armani, don’t you think? So, upon seeing this Fall 2009 collection, I had to ask myself, is “cobalt” the new “aqua”? I love this color, always have. It screams Hollywood Glam, but does it scream fabulous to the rest of us? Well, personally I love changing things up, and am always looking for the next best color scheme to add to my decor. I don’t see this color making a huge splash in the decor world, however. I love the use of cobalt blue in fashion, and think it is a total hit, but I find it to be less universal and not as “loving of other colors” as our beloved aqua. So for now, my prediction is aqua is here to stay a tiny bit longer, and I can live with that. Yet, don’t quote me on it, because I have learned to never say never!

So I ask myself, what would the Haute Couture Barbie’s, of Christian Dior’s Fall 2009 collection, house look like? I have a feeling it would look a little like this.
