Color Trend 2010!

They’ve been saying this for years now, but I think purple has finally found its way to the top in 2010. Not often have we seen purple rise to “trendome”. Could it all be because of Victory Ford’s fabulous apartment in Lipstick Jungle (a show that shouldn’t have been canceled!!) or is it just time. Well whatever it is, I’m digging it! I think it is time to have a little fun with color in 2010.

I am in love with this map art from “Velvet and Linen”. The subtle pink in these maps matched with the neutral walls and gray ottoman make this room relaxing and so chic! I am also loving the brass chandelier and picture lights. Looks like brass is back (and you can quote me on that)! As you know, I am in love with the pink and gray combination. I just found my new “go to” spot for inspiration. “Haven in Paris”is a unique rental agency that rents out the most beautiful havens from Paris to Tuscany. I am in awe of these homes. Although I could never afford a trip to Paris in one of these amazing villas, I can dream and be inspired by these photos. After all that is the name of the game here at “Design Fabulous”. Take bits and pieces of inspiration to make your own home beautiful while still affordable. Roman Shades from Mini Blinds!

I love roman blinds, but having them custom made is just too expensive!! The idea of making them myself is terrifying. I would never get them the right size. However, I found a post about making roman blinds out of mini-blinds on one of my favorite blogs “A Penny Saved“, and I must admit it sounds like something I can do! The idea is to use the hardware from your exciting mini-blinds (you know, the ones that already fit your window) and using it to make the roman blinds. A sewing machine is optional!! Click on this link (A Penny Saved) to read the instructions on how to do this great DIY project. I am really excited to try this myself and I will show you the results when I’m done.

I love to find new places for inspiration. I found a great one today on “Young House Love“. A post about designer Sarah Richardson introduced me to a new favorite designer. I have seen Sarah’s show a couple times on HGTV, but never looked up her design portfolio untill today. I am in love with her work and so excited to recreate some of her designs in my own home. Such an inspiration!!
As we speak I am having my two “Goodwill” chairs upholstered in white linen. I am so excited to put them in my bay window like ab0ve with some creamy silk drapes behind!! LOVE!
I don’t have a room this big in my home, but I love this room! The soft neutral palette is so soothing!
I love the tile work in this bathroom!
This look is a little too clean for my home, but I love the colors and the brightness!
A great ideas for a DIY desk/vanity in my bay window in the master bedroom.
This is the room featured on Young House Love. I have seen that pendant for sale on “Shades of Light.com” in case anyone is wondering. I love this room, even though I don’t normally go for yellow.
The combination of dining chairs, wing-back chairs, and a bench is such a creative way to seat an old farmhouse table.
Of course, I love this room because of the pink!!
