“Hello Lover!”

29 Apr

27

I am so glad that Carrie Bradshaw coined the phrase “Hello Lover!” because there are some things that can evoke no less of a response. This morning I was reading my dailies. I found the most beautiful chair featured on SimplyGrove (one of my favorite blogs). It was by the company Aiveen Daly, go check out there site. Here are just a few of the beauties you will find there.

Fabulous Wedding!

Before

I love a great “before and after”, and since wedding season in upon us, I thought I would show you this fabulous wedding “before and after”. This is for all you girls out there who have lost hope in your chosen wedding venue because of the upsightly mess that it is. There is hope after all. Just a little creative spirit and your wedding can look as great as this one. Trust me I know, I have been there!

Can’t Wait!

28 Apr

tracy-feith-target-06

I can’t wait till this collection by Tracy Feith for Target hits stores May 17th! I have posted about how much I love Target before, and i will say it again. Target ROCKS!! One thing I noticed in these shots, that I am actually liking, are the sheer socks and knee highs exposed and worn with these fun, flirty dresses. I just took a “like it or not” pole on another blog (I can’t remember which one, SORRY) about this trend on a celebrity (can’t remember the celebrity either, I KNOW I COULD KICK MYSELF). Most people said they didn’t like the trend. What do you think?

Dressing up the outdoors

28 Apr

tea-party-table-rep0507-de

I just had to post these images of lovely outdoor spaces, in pure excitement of how warm it has gotten here in Virginia. I love an outdoor space that uses traditionally indoor pieces. Dressing up the outdoors makes eating and playing outdoors whimsical, like Alice in Wonderland! Enjoy these beautiful images and get some great ideas for dressing up your outdoor space.

The perfect mix of traditional and modern!

27 Apr

_mg_1_web

I am in love with this dining room featured on Papillon Linens blog. The design group id 810 Design group created a room to suit the husband’s modern taste (the table) with traditional elements (the chairs) for the wife’s tastes. The chandeliers are a perfect mix of both styles, a traditional shape but stylized interpretation. I really love the easy tablescape made of simple beach elements. The room in designed just enough, not over done, just right! Oh, yeah and I kinda dig the pink chairs.

Simply Sweet!

24 Apr

macaroons1

I am simply in love with the macaron. Every time I see a picture of this sweet thing I stop, scroll back up, and admire. So what is it about this sweet little treat that has so many design bloggers swooning like myself. Well, first the simple fact that it is french, I think has something to do with it. Maybe because Kirsten Dunst made them look so darn appealing, while munching on them in her beautiful costumes in the almighty design world that is Versailles, while repricing her role as Marie Antoinette (we all know this has contributed). Simply the beautiful colors of this treat takes me away. I think most designer think like me, in that I see design in almost everything (including food). I look at the lovely color of the macarons and envision a room befitting of them (me sitting in this room, in a beautiful gown, eating them preferrably in Paris!) So enjoy these lovely pics of the macaroon. I am going to try my hand at making some. I will post pics to let you see how they turn out.

I wanted to give the lovely art of crochet a little love today. I love crochet blankets, scarves, necklaces,… I have a lovely crochet blanket thrown over the back of my very modern sofa (it incorporates all my colors in the room and gives a nice eclectic feel). Hope you enjoy the pics. Click on the pictures below to visit their etsy shops and buy these items and find more great stuff!

Kips Bay Decorator Show House

Juan Montoya’s room

The Kips Bay Decorator Show House opened April 17th. Here are some shots from inside the house. What are your thought? I am not in love with all of the rooms. My favorite is Charlotte Moss’s room at the very bottom. She used fabric from Michael Devine’s fabric collection. Visit his blog  “the devine life” to learn more about him and see his fantastic work. See the New York Times website for more information about the designers and their rooms. Hope your enjoy the pictures, leave me some comments about which ones you like and don’t like.

I heart wallpaper!

20 Apr

manuel

I love wallpaper, any space, anytime. Below are some of the most beautiful wallpapers out n’about today. My wallpaper tips: 1. Don’t hang your grandmothers wallpaper. For goodness sake please research the latest wallpaper fashions before selecting. 2. Don’t be afraid of large patterns. The larger the better. The key is to choose a wallpaper that has a lot of open negative space, this determines the “busyness” of wallpaper, not the size of the pattern. 3. Make sure you know what you are doing, if you want to hang it yourself, otherwise you can make expensive mistakes. 4. If you don’t have the money to wallpaper your entire room, just do one accent wall, or use large picture frames to frame wallpaper and hang it on the wall, less commitment for you commitmentphobes out there. 5. JUST USE IT!

I love using wallpaper for other uses than just on the walls.
